Ballarat's Blue Tree sculpture was formally launched on Thursday 27th February, 2025 by Des Hudson, Chairperson of Ballarat and District Suicide Awareness Network Inc. (BDSAN), and Annie De Jong, CEO of Ballarat Cemeteries. The sculpture, positioned on Yuille Island overlooking Lake Wendouree, serves as a prompt for conversations about mental health, encouraging individuals to seek support and reducing stigma through the message, "It's OK to not be OK". Its location on the foreshore of Lake Wendouree provides a peaceful, contemplative space for remembering local lives lost to suicide. Ballarat's Blue Tree is a collaboration between the Ballarat Cemeteries and BDSAN, with support from the City of Ballarat. Each of these organisations share a common goal of raising awareness of mental health and wellbeing for all within the Ballarat region. Ballarat families wishing to commemorate a loved one lost to suicide with a leaf on this tree can contact BDSAN directly at:
